Re: Emergency School Closing Information
During the winter months or fall hurricane season, weather conditions might make it necessary to close school for the entire day, delay the opening of school, or have an early dismissal. The decision to close school is one of concern for the safety and welfare of our school children.
The announcement of an emergency school closing will be made using the Emergency Snow Chain and certain radio and TV stations.
1. The H.S.A. Emergency Snow Chain has been set up so that all families will be called with the message regarding closing, delayed openings or early dismissals. If you have any questions about the emergency snow chain, please call Mrs. Cheryl Drzewoszewski at 537-6341.
2. School closings or delayed openings will be announced over the following radio and TV stations starting at 6:00 a.m.: - WFMZ Channel 69/TV (look on channel 18 from Allentown, PA) - WLEV 100.7 FM (Allentown, PA) - WEST 1400 AM - The HAWK 99.9 FM (Easton, PA) - WCTO Cat County 96 - WBYN 107.5 FM - WKXW/WBSS 101.5 FM (Trenton, NJ)
3. Delayed Openings: a) Any weekday, except Thursday, if a delayed opening of school is necessary, school will begin at 10:25 a.m. b) On Thursday, school will begin at 9:25 a.m. due to the 2:00 p.m. regular dismissal time. c) Lunches will be served as usual.
4. Early dismissals will be announced over the same radio and TV stations as listed above. Also, the H.S.A. Emergency Snow Chain will be activated. a) In event an early closing is necessary, students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. b) Lunches will be served as usual. c) All after school activities, sports, clubs, etc. will be canceled. d) YMCA’s After School Child Care Program will be canceled.
5. PLEASE ROLE PLAY WITH YOUR CHILDREN WHAT THEY ARE TO DO IN CASE SCHOOL MUST CLOSE EARLY. HOW WOULD THEY GET INTO THEIR HOUSE? WHO SHOULD THEY CALL TO REPORT THAT THEY ARE HOME? IS THERE A NEIGHBOR WHO COULD BE HELPFUL? IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOUR CHILD BE PICKED UP AT THE ABOVE DISMISSAL TIME, AS THE FACULTY AND STAFF MUST VACATE THE BUILDING ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. NO CHILD CARE WILL BE PROVIDED
